Shakespeare In Love

In Shakespeare In Love it was very important to me to make the lighting realistic, but stylized. I used saturated colors to convey heightened emotion. There were a few large scenic elements I had to support with my lighting design. The most challenging of those was a short throw midstage cyc and ground row that flies out to reveal the Rose Theater. Because of the fast pace of the scene changes between onstage and backstage I used dim, dirty side light to signify backstage and bright front light to signify onstage.
