Design
In Big Fish lighting played a big role in the director’s vision for the play. Shadow panels represented myth vs man and stories vs reality. The shadow leaves things to your imagination and makes you wonder if Edwards's stories are true or myth. Saturated extreme angles to differing degrees were used to represent the differing degrees of truth and imagination in the stories. Super saturated looks with lots of texture and extreme angles were reserved for moments of wildly imaginative stories. Because of the varying environments that change so quickly and morph into new places, lighting was a crucial form of place setting.
