Something Rotten!

Design

Something Rotten is a very fast-paced, often ridiculous, rarely grounded in reality show. This required the lighting to morph quickly with the location and mood. The show is also very grounded in “traditional” Broadway spectacular aesthetics and unapologetic showiness. Because of this, I used a warm, cold, blue, and gold palette with strong beams and exaggerated lighting to draw out the ridiculous things happening while also using a simple warm/cold palette to signify the more reality-based moments, with pastel highlights to add emotion.
