About

Campbell Shaw is a lighting designer and programmer based in Portland, OR. Currently a high school student, Campbell got his start in 6th grade, when he was the first middle school student to design and program lighting for his school’s drama program. Since then he has gone on to light numerous productions on both the educational and professional level. His design work includes live theatre, holiday light shows, and events.

As far back as he can remember, Campbell has been fascinated by light and the role it plays in creating immersive experiences. Even as a kindergartener, long before he had access to professional tools, he would tape translucent colored Magna-Tiles over flashlights to experiment with light. Inspired by his first trip to Disneyland at the age of 8, it wasn’t long before Campbell was recreating his own version of Disney dark rides - including The Tiki Room, The Haunted Mansion, and Ariel’s Undersea Adventure - in his basement and inviting neighbors to tour them.

Campbell loves to find fresh ways to use technology to make art. He has taught himself Eos, Hog 4, Onyx, Wysiwyg, Vectorworks, Qlab and continues to explore new technologies every day. He is now an Eos level 4 programmer.
